The DBT House is a community- based, therapeutic staffed home utilizing a Dialectical Behavior Therapy treatment model (DBT). DBT house provides therapeutic support for up to four adolescent girls in an intensive, supportive, residential program.
DBT House clients frequently have histories of severe emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Many have struggled in current or previous treatments when they arrive at the program. The program is well known and regarded for its quality of service and success in working with this specialized population. Treatment is based on current knowledge of best practices and is individualized to provide a safe and effective therapeutic environment for each individual that enters our program.
At the DBT House, residents are taught to manage stress by learning the DBT skills modules of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. The DBT team works closely with families to provide care for the youth, as well as support and education for families. Staff and DBT counselors model appropriate behavior, as well as, provide coaching and education in DBT and life skills.
Residents are expected to participate in education studies and engage in all treatment. Residents have regular study time and skills groups to learn about, discuss, and practice healthy behaviors. DBT supportive counselors provide residents with opportunities to engage in social settings in the community to use and practice skills. The rules and supports in the program are designed to help these individuals be successful in these expectations.
