The Allenbrook Program is a co-ed group home that serves youth between the ages of 11 and 18.  Many youth who turn 18 while living at Allenbrook have the option of extending their stay through an extended care agreement with the state of Vermont.  Allenbrook provides innovative treatment that integrates trauma informed interventions with principles of the Teaching Family Model.  Youth are offered individualized plans of care that include educational programming within local schools and a variety of community based activities.  Throughout these opportunities the program provides therapeutic interventions that are highly skilled in building healthy relational and attachment capacity; as well as supporting skill building on a more practical level for a successful transition into adulthood.  Allenbrook has been serving youth for over 40 years and has become an integral and well respected part of the community.  Allenbrook has a unique place within the continuum of mental health services being one of the most community integrated residential options for youth in the state of Vermont.

Criteria for admission revolves around the youths’ ability to engage in the Teaching Parent principles, live safely in a group setting, and integrate in the greater community.  Referrals are considered in the context of the milieu and match with youth currently residing at Allenbrook. Exclusionary criteria includes safety concerns and a lack of willingness to participate.

Allenbrook is located in South Burlington, Vermont in a home that has a large yard, stream, outdoor pool, garden, basketball court, and easy access to the larger Burlington Community.
