Whit Smith provides legal representation to health care and community mental health, developmental and behavioral health service providers in northern and central Vermont including the Howard Center, Inc., the Community Health Centers of Burlington, Inc., NFI Vermont, Inc., Northwestern Counseling and Support Services, Inc., Collaborative Solutions Corporation, and the Cara Martin Center.
Prior to entering private practice in 1983, Whit worked for several non-profit advocacy organizations, including the Children’s Defense Fund of Washington D.C., and Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. He has been involved in protracted litigation in Louisiana, Texas, and Vermont on behalf of clients, particularly children with disabilities. He is a graduate of Yale University and Yale Law School.
