THE ALLENBROOK PROGRAM

Allenbrook is a co-educational residential treatment facility licensed for eight youth between the ages of 12 and 18. Over the 30 years Allenbrook has served youth in South Burlington, we have become an integral and highly respected part of our community.  The treatment utilized is a progressive behavior management approach called the Teaching Family Model.

The approach assists youth with significant emotional and behavioral challenges in moving toward higher levels of functioning, self control and personal responsibility.

Teaching Parents normalize the experience of youth in the program. For example all youth attend the local middle or high schools. They are encouraged to participate in sports, performing arts, vocational, and other extracurricular activities. Youth are supported through therapeutic activities and in developing independent living skills such as menu development, food preparation, using public transportation, applying for and working at jobs in the community.  Throughout these opportunities the program provides therapeutic interventions that are trauma informed and highly skilled in building healthy relational and attachment capacity.

The goal of the program is to return youth to their families and to their communities. Progress and achievements are assessed by a treatment team evaluating the youth's ability to participate as a member of the treatment community and the broader community (i.e. school).
